Sources are the mechanism for retrieving data for the index. They are mostly pulled, but can also be pushed via API. Before Sources can be configured, Connections must be set up. The data inside a source are then presented via Sections to the user.

While importing data from sources, you can use Field Processors to manipulate or extend the given data.
