Depending on the specific Version can use be upgraded via version, you can simply upgrade Portrait by setting the new version in the docker-compose file. Others might Other migrations need some form of manual migration.
An upgrade Script script for internal use is provided since Version version 6.1 to speed up the process in case of a manual migration is needed.
Here is a A general rule for how releases are handled : (work in progress)
Major: Can contains breaking changes in the configuration. Will require a manual upgrade
Minor: Does not contain breaking changes for the configuration. However, may require a
Patch: Can be upgraded by updating the version in the docker-compose file if not noted otherwise
